Privacy policy
Vibrant Schools Standards Review is a review workspace that Black Flag Design operates for Marian University's Center for Vibrant Schools. Teachers, facilitators and school teams use it to compare Indiana standards with proposed performance descriptions and to record their judgments of student work. This policy explains what information the app collects, how we use it and the choices you have.
Information we collect
- Account information. When you sign in with Google or with your email address, we receive your name, email address and profile picture. Nothing else is requested from your Google account: the app cannot read your email, files, contacts or calendar.
- Review work. The judgments, comments, records and files you enter or upload, with account and timing information associated with those records.
- Usage and security information. Sign-in times, basic browser and device details, and a log of actions taken in the workspace. When product analytics are switched on, we also record which pages and features are used so we can improve the app.
How we use it
- To sign you in, apply your workspace permissions and show who made each decision.
- To run the review program: checkpoints, review records, exports and facilitation tools.
- To generate AI commentary from review materials using models hosted by Amazon Web Services. The review workflow is designed to keep that commentary hidden until your own judgment is recorded. Do not submit identifiable student work or sensitive personal information.
- To send service email, such as workspace invitations.
- To keep the service secure, investigate problems and improve the app.
We do not sell personal information or use it for advertising. We share it only with the Center for Vibrant Schools team that runs the review program, with members of your own workspace as the app's permissions allow, with Black Flag staff who support the app, and with the service providers listed below.
Information from Google
If you choose Continue with Google, the app requests only the basic sign-in permissions (openid, email and profile): your name, email address and profile picture. We use them only to sign you in and to identify you inside the app. Vibrant Schools Standards Review's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to theGoogle API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. We do not use Google user data for advertising, do not sell it, and do not let people read it except to provide support you ask for, for security, or to comply with the law.
Service providers
We use a small number of providers to run the app: a sign-in and account service, a database and file storage service, a hosting and network service, Amazon Web Services for AI processing, an email delivery service and, when switched on, product analytics. They process information only to provide their service to us, under their own security and confidentiality commitments.
Security and retention
The app uses encrypted connections and account permissions to protect information. Review records remain in the workspace for the review program. Contact us to discuss retention or request deletion; deletion requests must account for records the program needs to retain.
Your choices
You can ask to see, correct or delete your personal information, or to close your account, by emailing keith@blackflag.design. You can also remove the app's access to your Google account at any time from your Google Account's security settings.
Children
Vibrant Schools Standards Review is for adult educators and is not directed to children. Students do not have accounts.
